I think it’s solving problems on multiple levels:
The first is the intrinsic human desire to peer into the real, unfiltered lives of your friends. There’s a bit of voyeurism mixed with authenticity that makes it attractive.
The second is the desire to break free from the unhealthy social media habits that have been built up over the last 15 years. We know that it’s out of hand but we don’t want to give up those connections. BeReal offers an alternative.
I downloaded the app a while back because I really liked the concept. Unfortunately none of my 30 year old friends are on the app…. Yet.
